Dr Tony L. Peterson was born at Hill AFB, Ogden Utah. He attended Davis Elementary and McCormick Junior High while his father served at FE Warren AFB in the 1970's. Dr Peterson graduated from High School in Colorado Springs and entered the USAF.

Following his time in the Air Force he returned to Colorado Springs to attend the University of Colorado and served again after graduation as an Army Officer, with tours in California and Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield and Storm. Upon completion of his Army service, Dr Peterson entered Dental School in Denver, Co and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Yet once more upon graduation he chose to serve his country, this time as a Navy Dentist. After completing tours in Illinois, where he did a 1-year General Practice Residency, and a 2-year tour in Port Hueneme, Ca, with deployments, as a SeaBee Dental Officer, to Puerto Rico and Okinawa, he entered Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the University of Texas, Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas. Upon completion of his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr Peterson served as a Navy Oral Surgeon aboard an Aircraft Carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, and as the Head of Surgical Services at the Naval Ambulatory Care Center, Submarine Base, Groton, Ct.

After retiring from the military on December 1, 2009, Dr Peterson returned to Cheyenne to enter private practice with Cheyenne Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates. Dr Peterson is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is married and has 2 boys, Ryan and Travis.
